Introduction
Moshi rewards slowing down. Beyond the big day trips, the town and its green surroundings hold enough for a couple of unhurried days between a climb and a safari — coffee, culture, forest and the mountain always in view.
Coffee & Culture
A Chagga coffee tour on Kilimanjaro’s slopes — picking, roasting and grinding by hand — is the signature Moshi activity, and the beans make the best souvenir you’ll carry home. In town, a guided walk past the clock tower, Mbuyuni market, the old railway station and the historic KNCU coffee house gives you the story of the place in an easy morning.
Nature Close to Town
Rau Forest Reserve is a cool, shaded groundwater forest on the edge of town, good for birds and an easy walk. For a gentle taste of the mountain without a full climb, a day hike to Mandara Hut on the Marangu route walks you through rainforest to the first hut and back.

Browse Mbuyuni for fresh produce and the Maasai market for crafts, or try a cooking class to take Swahili flavours home. Many of these pair neatly with a café afternoon.
