Nature Close to Town
Rau Forest Reserve is a cool, shaded groundwater forest on the edge of town, good for birds and an easy walk. For a gentle taste of the mountain without a full climb, a day hike to Mandara Hut on the Marangu route walks you through rainforest to the first hut and back.
