A full day on Kilimanjaro's lower slopes — descend into 19th-century Chagga hideout caves built to escape Maasai raids, visit the Chagga Live Museum, hike to Ndoro and Kinukamori waterfalls, and finish at the historic Marangu Gate.
A deep, turquoise caldera lake straddling the Tanzania-Kenya border on Kilimanjaro's eastern flank. Kayak across the crater, hike to the border rock with one foot in each country, and watch for colobus monkeys, dik-dik and raptors along the rim.
Tanzania's only park offering a walking safari, an easy day trip from Moshi. Track giraffe, buffalo and colobus monkeys on foot with an armed ranger, then drive to the flamingo-lined Momella Lakes beneath Mount Meru. Includes TANAPA park entry.
