Moshi is affordable by international standards, and knowing the going rates keeps you from overpaying. These are honest 2026 ranges; prices shift with season and the shilling, so treat them as a guide.

- Local Tanzanian plate: TSh 4,000–8,000 (about $1.50–3)
- International main: TSh 12,000–25,000 (about $5–10)
- Coffee at a good café: TSh 4,000–6,000 ($1.50–2.50)
- Local beer: TSh 2,500–3,500; nightclub entry ~TSh 5,000
Getting Around
- Dala dala hop in town: a few hundred shillings
- Short town taxi: TSh 3,000–5,000
- Airport transfer (JRO): $30–40 pre-booked, $40–50 at the rank
- Shared airport shuttle: $10–20 per person

Popular half- and full-day trips — Materuni Waterfalls and coffee, Chemka Hot Springs, Marangu, Lake Chala — are typically sold per vehicle or per person including transport, guide and any entry fees. Prices vary widely by group size and operator, so we quote them to your dates rather than list a figure we can’t stand behind.
