Best Restaurants In Moshi
Introduction
Moshi is smaller and mellower than Arusha, but as the main base for Kilimanjaro climbers it has a surprisingly international food scene wrapped around a solid core of local Tanzanian cooking. Expect strong Indian, honest Italian, a stand-out Korean kitchen, garden restaurants for slow lunches, and roadside grills that locals swear by. Prices below are 2026 ranges to plan around, not fixed quotes.
International
Indoitaliano on Lindi Street is the reliable Italian-with-a-local-twist choice, and it delivers. Jay’s Kitchen is a genuine surprise — a Korean kitchen with big portions, a cosy canopied backyard and fried chicken that regulars come back for. For Indian, El Rancho has the widest menu and a loyal local following (butter chicken, tikka masala, fresh naan), while Peppers — the old Sikh Club — does dependable curries in town. Expect roughly TSh 12,000–25,000 (about $5–10) for an international main.
Local & Budget
Naseeb is the classic Moshi roadside institution: chicken tikka with chips, mishkaki skewers and kheema chapati, cheap and consistently good. Maembe pairs Tanzanian and international plates in a large, relaxed garden, with profits going to a local women’s charity — local dishes run around TSh 4,000–8,000 (about $1.50–3), international ones nearer TSh 12,000. Green Bamboo is a long-standing favourite for grills and warm service.
A Local Tip
Kitchens in Moshi run at their own pace — order, then relax. For dinner at the busier garden spots, a same-day booking is worth it. If you want a table held or a dietary need flagged, we can message ahead for you.
