The Ngarenanyuki Waterfall sits on the lower slopes of Mount Meru in Arusha National Park — a two-hour round-trip hike from the park entrance through montane forest alive with black-and-white colobus monkeys and exotic bird species. The waterfall drops 30 metres into a natural pool cold enough to take your breath away. The hike is suitable for all fitness levels and provides a taste of serious East African mountain forest without the commitment of a full day summit hike. The combination of wildlife, forest, and a swimmable waterfall makes it the single most rewarding half-day in the Arusha area.

Kilimanjaro requires no technical climbing, which misleads people into underestimating it. It is a long walk to 5,895 metres, and altitude does not care about fitness. Success correlates most strongly with how many days you take.
Six-day routes have markedly lower success rates than eight-day routes on the same mountain. The extra days are not padding; they are acclimatisation, and they are the difference between summiting and turning back at 4,600 metres.
Summit night starts around midnight from Barafu or Kibo, in the cold and the dark, and takes six to eight hours. It is the hardest thing most people who do it have ever done.

Not on this particular trip. The entrance fee here is a community or village fee, which is the same for everyone — there is no government differential to pass on, so we do not pretend there is one.
