Arusha National Park is among the few parks in Tanzania to allow guided walking safaris. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you walk the Momella area on foot among giraffe, buffalo, warthog and abundant birdlife, with Mount Meru rising above.
Game drives and canoeing on the Momella Lakes can be combined into a full day from Arusha.

Nothing prepares you for how different the bush is at walking pace. In a vehicle you are a moving object animals ignore; on foot you are part of the landscape, and everything — the smell of crushed sage, the size of an elephant footprint, how much noise you make — becomes real.
Walks focus on what a drive skips: tracks, dung, medicinal plants, insects, birds, the geology. You may not see a single large mammal and it will still be the walk you talk about afterwards.
An armed ranger is mandatory and leads. Groups are small, you walk in single file, and you follow instructions without discussion — that is the trade for being allowed out of the vehicle.

How much is it for my group?
It depends how many of you there are, and the reason is simple: one vehicle, one guide and one tank of fuel cost the same whether two of you come or eight. Split further, the price each falls. Only the entrance fee is per head.

What is included?

Can I book for tomorrow?
Usually yes, if you message tonight. Same-day depends on where you are staying and what you want to do.

Do East Africans pay less?
Not on this particular trip. The entrance fee here is a community or village fee, which is the same for everyone — there is no government differential to pass on, so we do not pretend there is one.

How long is the day?
A full day. Pickup from your hotel in the morning, back in the late afternoon or early evening — exact times depend where you are staying.
If you are jet-lagged or acclimatising for a climb, say so and we will tell you honestly whether it is too much.

From $98 per person for Tanzanian and East African citizens and from $170 for international visitors (high season, shared vehicle). Which park fees are included?
All of them: Arusha National Park entry fees for every 24-hour period, vehicle gate fees and 18% VAT. East African citizens and Tanzania residents pay the lower government rates — choose your residency in the calculator.
Do children pay less?
Yes. Children aged 5–15 pay child park fees; under-5s enter the parks free.
Is it cheaper in the low season?
