Sand Rivers Selous

Sand Rivers Selous is genuinely extraordinary — eight rooms completely open to the African night, positioned on a rocky ridge above the Rufiji River with views extending for kilometres upstream and downstream. There are no glass windows or screens. The beds face the river. At night, you hear the hippos below and the sound of the hyena on the opposite bank. Boat safaris launch from the lodge jetty. Walking safaris go into country rarely visited by tourists. The Selous ecosystem is three times the size of the Serengeti and Sand Rivers sits deep within it, far from any other lodge.
